Accommodation Day 1

Mandara Hut

At 2700m above sea level and along the Marangu Route for climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, Mandara Hut sits below the tree line and is surrounded by forests. Even so, there are some pretty views in the area. Like all huts on Kilimanjaro, Mandara has bunk beds, and it’s a good place to meet other climbers and get used to the altitude.

Horombo Hut

Sleep in simple wooden bunks and swap stories with other climbers when you stay at Horombo Hut. It lies on the slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro, along the Marangu Route, at an altitude of 3720m. Enjoy views in the area, the company of other travelers and a well-earned rest. There are very few trees in the area because you’re above the tree line here on Africa’s highest mountain.

Kibo Hut

One of the highest-altitude places you can sleep anywhere in Africa, Kibo Hut (4703m above sea level) offers simple accommodation within sight of Mt Kilimanjaro’s summit. The surroundings are beautiful, a bare landscape that’s known as alpine desert, with no trees. It can get really cold here at night. Enjoy meeting other travelers who have also made it this far.
